Environmental justice

Welcome to our webquest about Forest Stewardship. Here you can learn about environmental justice and injustice, reciprocal and therefore truly sustainable ways of relating to our natural environments, and the problems caused by unsustainable forest management.
We also invite you to come up with solutions and suggestions to treat forests and their living beings with deep respect.

Alimapu (burned land)

Land acknowledgment: Alimapu is the Mapuche name for the area around Valparaíso, Chile, where we work. The name refers to the hot, semi-arid climate of this region.

The forests that appear in this webquest are located in Mapuche territory several hundred kilometres South from Alimapu.

We honour the role that indigenous peoples have had in the stewardship of these lands and their forests, past and present. With this webquest, we hope to inspire you to get informed and take action for the forests and all those who have made it their aim to protect them from exploitation and destruction.

Step 1: See / Read - Think - Wonder

Compare indigenous worldviews with what you can see on the images.

Step 2: Detective Work

Explore some web resources and come up with answers to puzzling questions about forest stewardship in the South of Chile.

Step 3: Take position, take action

Make a proposal to help and protect forests, from where you are now!
